Have no homeland

Yesterdays rain reached our  town

I would have joined in saying so you-

If I had my own country…like you.

My guide cried,

“I have no homeland.”

How could I have town,

If not a homeland.

Carrying frogs along shoulders

In drought, we’ve ceased dancing

Because-

Why should our suffering

Gush forth in a strange town?

Eh, do drop in, in case you remember,

To see my unsettled lush-green settlement,

But…

Never forget to carry along

The brass-bell of your ancestral temple.
